About Event

Hi London!

I’m Alice, a 20-year-old student from Estonia, and I do marketing at Display, an Estonian software startup.

We’re building a giant chair. On Tuesday November 3rd it’s going up at Leonard Circus in Shoreditch, as a protest against per-seat pricing.

If you’ve done knowledge work, you know how it goes. Every time someone new joins, the software bill goes up, because tools like Notion, Google Workspace and Confluence charge for every person. You pay for your colleague just so they can read one doc. We think that’s silly, so we’re making it impossible to ignore.

What’s happening
A chair over 4 metres tall, made by a London artist out of scaffolding and newspaper collage. Next to it there’s a counter showing what all those seats would cost. You can come and sit on it, take photos, and bring your friends and colleagues.

Who it’s for
Anyone who’s paid for a seat they didn’t need: founders, ops and finance people, designers, students, or just anyone walking past Old Street who wants to see a very big chair.

Why London
In 2014, TransferWise took on the banks in London with a different pricing model. We’d like to do the same for seats.

It’s free and you don’t need to sign up, but registering here helps us know how many people are coming.
