🌐 Circular Economy Cluster Kickoff: The Regulation Reshaping Everything

​Kicking off the Circular Economy Cluster in the Bay, where we tackle everything from waste distribution and recycling, to textiles and CSR at clothing companies, materials science, supply chain, and beyond.

​California is leading the US on extended producer responsibility, and the rules are changing fast. SB 54 requires that by 2032, single-use plastic packaging be dramatically reduced and made recyclable or compostable, shifting cost and responsibility onto producers. SB 707, the Responsible Textile Recovery Act, is the first US law requiring fashion brands and apparel producers to take responsibility for the full lifecycle of what they sell, with producer registration now mandatory as of July 1, 2026 through Landbell, the state's designated Producer Responsibility Organization.

This cluster brings together 9Zero members working on the circular economy to make sense of the shifting regulatory landscape, develop real solutions, understand what compliance actually looks like, draw inspiration from Europe, and identify where the greatest opportunities lie.
