To the Rescue: Meals That Matter Official Project Kick-Off Event
Celebrate the launch of Meals That Matter and join us for our official project kick-off during Toronto Climate Week. The event opens with a brief presentation by our founder and director on the global food waste crisis and the situation in Canada, then moves into hands-on activities: trivia, 'ugly produce' decision scenarios, a Recipe Remix station for turning leftovers into meals and snacks, a Rescue Pledge Wall, and a facilitated Story Circle to share personal experiences that build empathy, surface barriers, and connect participants to Meals That Matter’s mission and vision. Together, we’ll make learning fun and demonstrate that rescuing and redirecting surplus edible food is a win-win. We’ll finish with networking and clear next steps on how to sign up as a donor, recipient, or volunteer.
Free and family-friendly, this event offers a practical, hands-on introduction to how food rescue can turn surplus into nourishment—and how you can collaborate with Meals That Matter. It's ideal for a diverse audience, including food business owners, managers of organizations interested in receiving rescued food, policymakers, prospective volunteers, sustainability students, and anyone who cares about food justice. You'll leave inspired, informed, and ready to act.
