Organizing Climate Futures - Event 1 - Campaigns!
Indigenous Climate Action, Research for the Frontlines and UVic’s Transformative Climate Action program are teaming up for a vibrant, inspiring online speaker series on Organizing Climate Futures!
Bringing together Indigenous organizers and land defenders from across so-called Canada, we will have hard hitting, powerful conversations that make just, livable climate futures more possible.
Too much of current climate discourse and climate action is still centered on colonial understandings and false, corporate solutions. This series of conversations will help counter that.
We will be hosting the first event in the series during Toronto Climate Week. This first event is Campaigns! What we learn through movement organizing. It will feature three powerful speakers: Sleydo' Molly Wickham, Jesse Stoeppler, and Tia Kennedy.
Join us for this conversation about what land defense campaigns teach us about the fight for just and livable climate futures.

UVic’s Transformative Climate Action (TCA) program focuses on the social and political challenges of climate change, helping students develop new ways to build collaborative solutions that support decolonization, integrate diverse communities, enhance social resilience and overcome polarization. TCA is jointly offered by the School of Environmental Studies and the Division of Continuing Studies, resulting in expertly designed courses taught by leaders in their fields. https://continuingstudies.uvic.ca/science-and-the-environment/programs/transformative-climate-action
