About this event

Building a product that works is the first step. Building a product that scales is a completely different discipline.

For the second session of our Capital & Craft series, John Radford of Tappable is sitting down with Hugo Ostyn, Product Director at amicable (and formerly Head of Product at Rest Less).

This session dives deep into the Craft of building great products We are moving away from the "scrappy startup" mindset and looking at how to industrialise your product development for the Series A transition.

The session will also feature an audience Q&A to allow guests to have their product development questions answered.

We’ve spent 15 years at Tappable helping founders navigate this and going from a collection of features to a robust, scalable business. Hugo has lived this journey at two of the UK’s most significant scale-ups, and he’s joining us to share his tips on high-growth product management.

What we’ll cover:

  • The Logic of Prioritisation: Every founder has 100 features they want to build. We’ll discuss the framework Hugo uses to filter the noise and keep the core roadmap clean.

  • Scaling without Breaking: Dealing with tech debt, legacy code, workarounds etc.

  • Data-Informed vs. Data-Led: How to balance founder intuition with the cold hard metrics required to prove your product’s value to the market (and future investors).

  • The Architecture of Trust: How to build high-utility products in sensitive sectors where technical reliability is non-negotiable.

Followed by a Q & A session to allow guests to ask their questions around product development

Why we are doing this

The mission of Capital & Craft is to give back to the founder community. We see too many brilliant ideas fail because the technical foundation wasn't there to support the ambition.

We’re bringing together the best in Capital (Investors) and the best in Craft (Product Leaders) to give you the help you need to build better and grow faster.
