About Event

Enjoy dinner, drinks and a chance to meet:

Robert Walsh, Managing Partner at QVentures. They invest in early-stage UK startups via its SEIS fund, angel & family office network. It is the number 1 SEIS fund in the UK (source: MICAP). Join us for an evening to learn how to become an investor.

What they invest in:

QVentures is a Pre-Seed investor in the UK. Qventures has led over 33 Pre-Seed investments since 2020 ranging in size from £200k to £1.5m. The fund backs industry experts building software that drives efficiency. If the founder is an industry expert, the sweet spot is PreMVP and PreRevenue. Their investment catalyses the round and angels will fill out the rest of the round.

Their investment portfolio includes:

Some examples of companies QVentures has backed: Flexa (flexible jobs platform), Semeris, Alectro, Intanify, and taxd.

This dinner is perfect for:

New or aspiring angel investors, professionals exploring venture investing, or those curious about backing startups but unsure where to start. If you want to learn how to assess opportunities, structure deals, and build a portfolio — while hearing firsthand from an active investor — this evening is for you.

Founders raising capital are also welcome — getting inside the investor’s mindset is invaluable. Just a few limited places for founders.

Not quite in one of those positions? Reach out to see if there’s a fit!

The dinner conversation will be:

Robert’s experience in investing across stages and sectors gives him strong insight into what makes a startup investment successful — and what pitfalls to avoid. Expect to explore:

  • How to spot a strong opportunity: what metrics, signals & traction matter early on

  • How to assess startup teams and product-market fit

  • How to value early-stage ventures: balancing risk, growth potential, dilution

  • Structuring rounds & investing: from SEIS / angel rounds up to Series A, and what investors expect

By the end of the evening, you’ll have a clearer understanding of how successful investors think, what they look for in startups, and how to spot opportunities worth backing — plus the chance to build valuable connections with others exploring the same path.
