A monthly paper night for AI researchers and research-minded founders. Edition one: the paper everyone argues about and almost nobody has actually read.
The read: GDPval (OpenAI, 2025). The first serious attempt to measure frontier models against human experts on real work - deliverables from 44 occupations across the top 9 GDP sectors, built by professionals averaging 14 years on the job. We walk what it says, where it breaks, and what it means for how you work in 2027.
In the room: guest researchers from OpenAI and Decart take the walkthrough and the hard questions. Around them, 12 to 15 PhDs and AI researchers who read the papers instead of the press releases. Small on purpose, so every voice lands.
Format: one paper, a tight walkthrough, open debate over drinks. Tuesday, August 11, 6:00-8:00pm, San Francisco. Come having skimmed the 220 open-sourced tasks or come curious. Bring a take.
