Who it’s for: Children of BioPark or UMB employees. Not a parent? You’re welcome to bring a niece, nephew, family friend, or another young person who’s special to you.
Bring a young scientist to the BioPark for a hands‑on forensic STEM adventure in partnership with LET’S GO.
There’s a mystery in town, and only the sharpest young detectives can crack the case. During this year’s Take Your Child to Work Day, children are invited to step into the role of a junior forensic scientist and immerse themselves in a hands-on investigation filled with clues, science, and discovery.
LET'S GO's Crime Busters CSI Cookies program transforms students into real investigators as they work through an unfolding mystery. Designed to spark curiosity and build critical-thinking skills, this interactive experience introduces children to the fascinating world of forensic science.
Throughout the day, elementary detectives will:
Analyze fingerprints to identify unique patterns
Examine fibers, crumbs, and other “crime scene” materials
Use logic and observation to narrow down suspects
Piece together evidence to uncover the culprit
Throughout the day, middle school detectives will:
Explore DNA testing (gel electrophoresis) concepts and how genetic clues solve cases
Perform blood-typing and blood splatter simulation to compare evidence

Adults are asked to be present throughout the day. Activities take place from 9am-2pm, with children and adults encouraged to visit their office afterwards (as allowed).
Free parking for participants in the 4MLK lot.
