Café Takeover Exhibition Walkthrough with Climate Film Fest
This week, in honor of Climate Film Fest's Café Takeover week, join CFF Co-Founders J. English Cook and Alec Turnbull for pop-up screenings and Q&As focused on the power of climate storytelling. Join us for films and climate talk! The program includes:
3PM: The Human Fossil, dir. Rebecca Huang, 6 min., 2024, followed by a short Q&A and manga pop-up
About the film: The Human Fossil is an animated short film about alien archaeologist Soo’s mesmerizing encounter with the relics of human civilization. Initially perplexed by the ceramic artifacts she found, Soo performs amusing experiments on them, even riding on a toilet bowl. However, when Soo immerses broken bowls and mugs in water, she witnesses vivid flashbacks from their ancient owners thousands of years ago.
4PM: Groundswell: The Re:wild Your Campus Story, dir. Josh Izenberg, Palmer Morse, 12 min., 2026, followed by a short Q&A with Re:wild your Campus founder Mackenzie Feldman
About the film: Re:wild Your Campus (RYC) protects over 700,000 students each year from toxic pesticides. Started by a beach volleyball player at UC Berkeley, this environmental non profit has worked across the country protecting front line workers, students, and staff from toxic pesticide exposure on their college campuses.
J. English Cook and Alec Turnbull are the co-founders of the Climate Film Fest (CFF). CFF is an annual event with programming that runs throughout the year, dedicated to honoring films and filmmakers who explore climate-related themes. As the largest festival of its kind in New York City, CFF is reshaping the conversation around climate change by leveraging artists and the impact of cinema. The festival highlights emerging and renowned filmmakers, presents landmark climate films, and shares compelling, human-centered stories that inspire and engage audiences.
