About Event

Join us for a youth hosted, environmentally focused Ontario Liberal Party Leadership Forum. This event will be focused on the future of environmental policy in Ontario and how the province can respond to the climate crisis.

This event is hosted by the Canadian Youth Climate Action Team (CYCAT), a federally registered youth-led environmental non-profit, dedicated to driving intersectional climate action in Canada.

Everyone (even if you’re not a member of the Ontario Liberal Party) is more than welcome to attend, however those under 30 will be prioritized when selecting attendees to ask questions.

The event is designed to create a sense of clarity, accountability, and meaningful civic engagement for all attendees. Candidates will gain a clear understanding of public concerns, priorities, and expectations regarding climate action, as well as pressing challenges they may be expected to address if elected. Attendees will gain a structured and transparent comparison of candidate climate platform commitments, further insight into existing and future proposals, and greater confidence in the democracy.

About the Host: Too often, climate change is disregarded in classrooms. It's taught as an overwhelming crisis: something vast, unattainable, and seemingly beyond individual control. It's almost as if we all recognize the elephant in the room, but everyone believes “someone else will deal with it” because what could one single youth possibly do? It's a fatal bystander effect. The Canadian Youth Climate Change Team bridges that gap. It transforms climate concern into organized, collective action by giving youth not just awareness, but a platform to fight for their future. In 2025, CYCAT achieved official nonprofit status, launched an International Youth Green Challenge in collaboration with Youth4Earth, and established its first school club at St. Francis Xavier, introduced its podcast CYCAT: Voices for Change on Spotify, and began publishing its newsletter to amplify youth voices. CYCAT was previously named finalist for the David Suzuki Foundation’s Future Ground Prize (2022) and has led initiatives ranging from a Milne Dam Park cleanup with the Markham Ward 6 Youth Council to a Youth Indigenous Voices Panel with HNP Ontario, as well as youth-led water testing on Lake Ontario in partnership with Swim Drink Fish. At its core, CYCAT rejects the belief that action belongs to someone else. It confronts the tragedy of inaction by building a generation that is informed, organized, and ready to build better. Through community, leadership, and public engagement, CYCAT transforms climate action from a faraway thought to tangible action. And suddenly, what once felt impossible begins to feel inevitable.

I understand when I attend an event I enter an area where photography, audio, and video recording may occur. By entering the event premises, I consent to such recording media and its release, publication, exhibition or reproduction.
