OTC Escapes: A Day of History and Culture in Toledo
Escape Madrid for a day of deep history, art, and local gastronomy. Guided by a local guide and an expert historian, followed by a traditional tavern lunch and a private visit to the Museo del Greco.
We are trading the capital for the "City of Three Cultures." Our journey begins with a quick, 34-minute high-speed AVE train from Madrid Atocha. We will gather at the main door of the Toledo train station at 11:00 AM to begin a comprehensive 2-hour and 45-minute walking tour.
Our route will take us through centuries of Roman, Visigoth, Arab, and Christian history. We will explore the exterior of the Mezquita del Cristo de la Luz, the oldest mosque in Toledo dating back to the year 999, step inside the Museum of Councils and Visigoth Culture to view 13th-century paintings, and admire the Gothic grandeur of the Toledo Cathedral, constructed between 1226 and 1493. After taking in the panoramic views by the Alcázar, we will settle into the Jewish Quarter for a traditional community lunch. The afternoon will be spent exploring the Museo Casa del Greco before enjoying some free time in the city.
