About Event

On Matter brings together works by Charles Arnoldi and Woods Davy in a focused presentation exploring material, structure, and physical presence.

Curated by Sacha H. Cohen of SABBATIKAL, the exhibition considers matter not simply as medium, but as subject — Arnoldi through paint, wood, and gesture; Davy through stone, balance, and gravitational tension.

Presented at The KINN in partnership with Venice Fine Arts, On Matter opens during Frieze Art Week with an evening reception. The event brings together artists, collectors, and the broader arts community to experience the works within an active architectural setting. Live jazz and a hosted wine bar will accompany the exhibition, creating space for conversation, movement, and engagement with the physical presence of the work.

Charles Arnoldi

Charles Arnoldi (b. 1946) is a prominent American abstract artist whose work bridges painting and sculpture. Emerging in the 1970s with his iconic stick constructions, Arnoldi has developed a bold visual language defined by geometric structure and expressive line.

His work is included in major museum collections including MoMA, the Whitney, LACMA, the Smithsonian, and the Guggenheim Bilbao.

Woods Davy

Woods Davy is a California-based sculptor whose work explores gravity, balance, and material integrity through carefully assembled stone compositions.

Using stones in their natural, unaltered states, he creates works that appear to defy gravity and their material identity as they embody tranquility. His work is held in the collections of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the San Diego Museum of Art, the Palm Springs Art Museum, the Crocker Art Museum, and the Laguna Art Museum, among others.
