The Weathers of Our Work
An interactive, multimedia live exhibition that walks participants through the lives of women and gender-marginalised urban development professionals as they navigate the impacts of climate change on their work.
Scheduled virtually, “The Weathers of Our work” is an interactive, multimedia exhibition hosted online that translates the findings of our Gender and Environment Data Alliance Small Grants Program-supported Climate, Gender and Health Study into an immersive physical experience.
The exhibit utilises a 30-day participatory dataset that comprises text entries, voice notes, videos, emojis and photographs from women and gender-marginalised urban development professionals to humanise the impacts of climate change on occupational health and safety.
Visitors will be able to explore the different facets of the day-to-day life of an urban development worker in Mumbai, in the midst of perpetual climactic distress: daily commute, work in offices and on the fields, and after-work hours spent on self-care and coping with the demands of the job.
The exhibit aims to bring to life the heat stress, infrastructure strain, and emotional labour experienced daily by frontline workers across Maharashtra’s urban development sector.
