Bold, Strange & Beautiful: Gallery Breakfast + Tribeca Gallery Hop
Trade your typical Saturday for a morning of bold contemporary art, fresh discoveries, and great company as Women of Culture heads downtown for our First Saturday Art-full Discovery Walk—this time exploring the art, history, and culture of Tribeca.
This two-part event begins with an intimate gallery breakfast at Asya Geisberg Gallery, where Rebecca Morgan will join us for a personal walk-through of her new exhibition, Painting in the Apocalypse.
Rooted in her Appalachian upbringing, Morgan’s work uses folk traditions, meticulous technique, caricature, and biting humor to complicate ideas of femininity, rural identity, beauty, nostalgia, power, and representation. Her women refuse to be polished or easily categorized: they can be glamorous and grotesque, vulnerable and defiant, familiar and deeply strange.
Hearing directly from Morgan will offer a rare chance to explore the ideas, influences, and tensions behind the work—and to ask questions about a practice that is at once playful, unsettling, and sharply observant.
From there, we’ll continue on a curated Art-full Discovery Walk through Tribeca, visiting a selection of standout new exhibitions while getting an insider look at one of NYC’s most dynamic contemporary art districts. We'll visit 4-6 additional new gallery shows, meeting the gallerists and learning more about the artists behind each.

About Rebecca Morgan
Raised in central Pennsylvania, Rebecca Morgan works across painting, drawing, and ceramics, bringing together Appalachian influences, folk traditions, highly detailed imagery, and a sharp sense of humor.
Her work plays with romanticized visions of rural America while exploring ideas around women reclaiming their subjectivity, masculinity, power, escapism, nostalgia, and contemporary identity. Familiar imagery becomes exaggerated, irreverent, and sometimes wonderfully strange—inviting viewers to reconsider the stereotypes and cultural narratives they may take for granted.
