AI x Bio Seminar:Speech Emotion Recognition and its Challenges for Children with Autism
[IN-PERSON AI × BIO SEMINAR IN MUNICH]
About the Talk Join us for an AI × Bio seminar on "Speech Emotion Recognition and its Challenges for Children with Autism" with Dr. rer. nat. Manuel Milling, AI researcher specializing in deep learning for computer audition.
In this seminar, Manuel will discuss the fundamentals of speech emotion recognition (SER) from the computational, audio processing perspective and dive into commonly applied machine learning approaches for this problem. He will then discuss the particular challenges of SER for children with autism in human-computer interaction (HCI) settings. Following the seminar, there will be a networking session where attendees can ask questions, exchange ideas, and connect with others interested in AI and biology.
About the speaker
Manuel Milling is a post-doctoral researcher at the chair of health informatics at TUM Klinikum, working on fundamentals and applications of deep learning (DL). With a background in both physics and computer science, he investigates the training dynamics of DL and leverages gained insight into a wide range of applications covering affective computing, health, and industry applications. With the main focus being on audio, he has further experience in general signal processing, as well as computer vision, and natural language processing. Besides research, he is passionate about teaching, offering structured courses and thesis supervision, mostly for students from the field of computer science.
