Before You Walk Past

Pause. Notice. Create.

We walk past trees, leaves, flowers, and patches of earth every day, often without really seeing them. This workshop is an invitation to slow down and pay attention to the world around us.

Through simple observation exercises, creative journaling, and guided reflection, we explore what becomes visible when we stop rushing and start noticing. Using found natural materials, fallen leaves, petals, bark textures, and seeds, we'll create simple marks, rubbings, and impressions in a journal you'll take home.

The making isn't the goal. The practice is learning to see differently, and discovering a deeper connection with the natural world around us.

What we'll do

In this guided outdoor session, led by Shivani Mansingh, we'll begin with a few moments of stillness before moving into a series of observation practices that help us notice the small, overlooked details of our surroundings.

We'll then gather natural materials and use them to create simple journal entries through pressing, rubbing, sketching, and mark-making. The session closes with a reflective conversation on what we noticed and what we might carry forward into everyday life.

Post the workshop, we'll head for a South Indian breakfast, the ultimate Bengaluru ritual, with filter coffee, conversation, and time to connect.
