About Event

AI is everywhere — from writing emails to optimizing supply chains. But what else is it optimizing?

For our February LEARN night, we’re digging into the lesser-known climate impacts of AI and cloud technologies — specifically how they’re being used to accelerate fossil fuel extraction and production.

We’ll be joined by Holly and Will from Enabled Emissions, a campaign focused on exposing how advanced digital systems are quietly embedded across oil and gas exploration, drilling, and production — reducing risk, speeding timelines, and bringing new fossil fuel supply online.

If you’ve been curious about the intersection of AI, power, and climate, this night is for you. Come learn, ask questions, and wrestle with what sustainable tech actually means in practice.

The plan (plant-based dinner is included)

  • 6~7pm | dinner & yap

  • 7~8pm | Enabled Emissions presentation with Q&A

  • ~8-9 | continued mingling and learning

Please try to arrive by 6:30pm so you have time to grab dinner before the programming begins.

More about about our guest speakers Holly and Will:

Will Alpine is an AI product management leader who helped build Microsoft’s Responsible AI platform and co-founded several Green Software Engineering initiatives, including the open-source Carbon Aware SDK. Before leaving Microsoft, they co-led an internal initiative aiming to address how the company’s AI and cloud technologies were enabling increased fossil fuel production, which led to a series of high-level policy discussions with senior executives.
