🎯 The Purpose
This October, we are hosting a 31-day biotech pop-up city in Kobe to write the regulations, the frameworks, and the shipping playbooks for frontier biotech.
For the global biotech community, Japan has become the fastest path nobody talks about across multiple categories. While US and EU regulators stall, Japan's PMDA has been quietly running Sakigake and conditional approval pathways that get cell and gene therapies to patients years ahead of anywhere else.
We want to give you the chance to go down the rabbit hole and build inside it.
We encourage our community to co-create events which can be meetups, workshops, hackerhouses, etc.
📍 The Venue. The Heart of Japan's Biomedical Cluster.
Mirai Tech is set up on Port Island, Kobe, anchored at KBIC (Kobe Biomedical Innovation Cluster). Japan's most active biomedical innovation hub.
You are immersed in an ecosystem with 360+ resident biomedical companies, Kobe University Hospital, the Center for iPS Cell Research and Application network, and direct rail connections to Osaka, Kyoto, and Tokyo.
From our hub, you are within reach of every major Japanese pharma giant, regulatory consultancy, and clinical infrastructure provider in the country.

🗓️ Programming. A Month-Long Biotech Co-living experience
To show the depth of Japan's biomedical ecosystem, we structured the month around two frontiers: Longevity and Human Augmentation.
We will have three 4 tracks within those themes:
The Residences: Two [application only] residences with access to specialised labs to develop medical devices and therapies [more info to come]
The Blueprint: We will have a group of experts, policy makers, entrepreneurs, private and public sector developing the blueprint for a zone that accelerates biomedical progress for longevity [invite only]
Ecosystem Lifestyle and Events: Outside the conference weekends, builders and residents self-organise their own side events, meetings, cultural programs and hacker houses, etc at their desired additional cost . FYI Kobe is full of beautiful onsens, food and drinks! (Calling all partners. Come co-create these with us.)
The Summits: Every weekend, we drop a Mirai Summit to cap off the theme.
🇯🇵 Week 1, Japan Ecosystem Summit (Oct 10–11) We focus on how to enter Japan market, actively get to know the ecosystem in Kobe and KBIC and explore their regulatory systems and processes from the experts.
🧬 Week 2, Longevity Summit (Oct 17–18) Healthspan, longevity therapeutics, regenerative medicine. What will make us live forever and how to accelerate it.
🦾 Week 3, Human Augmentation Summit (Oct 24–25) Cyberdyne, BCI groups, exoskeleton makers, prosthetics teams, biosensor companies, and the wave of human-augmentation builders Japan has been quietly funding for a decade.
🪩 Week 4, Frontier Humans Fashion Show (Oct 30) all in-residence companies, the Kobe creative community, and a curated audience of investors, regulators, and partners. Closing demo day reimagined as an interactive runway.
