About Event

There’s wide agreement that we need to do more when it comes to a just and timely climate transition. At this gathering, we’ll hear from an outstanding group of people discussing one promising approach: blended finance.

There’s an urgent need for collaboration between different actors to achieve the necessary systemic shift from fossil fuel–based energy—and the inequality it can breed—toward distributed renewable energy and place-based solutions. To spark transformation at scale across clean energy, green infrastructure, and social systems, governments need partners that bring unique experiences, perspectives, and capital.

Different types of capital operate under distinct mandates, and identifying points of agreement can be challenging. Blended finance seeks to harness collaboration across sources—commercial, government, philanthropic, and development—by leaning on the comparative strengths of each and strategically “blending” them to maximize impact based on the capabilities each brings to the table.

Join us as we ask some big questions for our consequential times: What is “blended finance”? What has it achieved so far and, importantly, where could it go next if scaled to meet the massive challenges we’re confronting? How do you structure efforts that align the interests of diverse actors and channel them into a productive partnership? How do you design for true collaboration? And finally, how can finance be deployed toward positive social transformation?

In a world where, from the outside looking in, it may seem that many more doors are closing than opening, this evening is designed to break open the possibilities for what well-designed collaboration can and should achieve. Drawing from real-life examples and experts directly working in the field, this event will give an overview and entry point to the world of multi-stakeholder financing for social impact and where it can go next, and allow you to see how you can play a part in it.

Doors will open at 5pm, and the program will start promptly at 5:30pm, followed by socializing until 7pm.
