Yamaha Creator Pass and the Emerging Artist
Presenter: David Arzo is a Fractional Business Development Consultant at Yamaha Music Innovations. He oversees business development and partnerships on behalf of Yamaha, as well as for a number of other music tech companies.
What to Expect: How does a 130-year-old instrument company build a modern software subscription for the next generation of music creators? That is the question behind the Yamaha Creator Pass, a service that bundles 20+ hand-picked creative tools (Output, LANDR, Groover, Cubase, Ableton and more) under one login and one subscription, covering the journey from first idea to streaming release. In this session, David Arzo walks through the full creator workflow the Pass is built around: ideation and songwriting, DAWs and samples, plug-ins and arrangement, AI mastering, distribution and promotion. Along the way, the talk opens up questions this community will have strong opinions on: where AI actually helps versus gets in the way, why the Pass is explicitly built without generative-AI music to keep the creator in control, and what “value” really means when bundled access is compared to buying tools individually. He also shares the behind-the-scenes story of how partnerships like these come together, what partners look for, and what was learned launching a product for emerging artists, songwriters and producers. For anyone considering a career at the intersection of music, tech and business, it is a look at how the dealmaking side of the industry really works.
