About Event

Indigenous communities and REDD+ projects have long claimed to slow forest loss, despite persistent criticism.

New data from Chloris Geospatial now backs them up, but it also points to another threat: forest degradation, which hollows forests from within and had previously been invisible from the sky.

Using Satellites and AI, Chloris has been able to quantify subtle changes in forest structure, including forest degradation and forest growth. The findings can have profound implications for how resources are allocated to indigenous communities, carbon projects, and other conservation efforts.

Join the discussion on September 24, where scientists and market leaders will share new data, unpack what it means for forest health, and explore how it could shape the future of conservation worldwide.

The session is open to the media.

Panel moderated by:

  • Kavita Prakash-Mani, Board Member, The Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market

Speakers:

  • Alessandro Baccini, Co-Founder, Co-CEO, and Chief Science Officer, Chloris Geospatial

  • Jeremy Freund, Chief Technology Officer, Wildlife Works

  • Nandini Wilcke, COO and Co-Founder, CarbonPool
