Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) released a report a while ago showing the growth of electricity consumption by data centers.
In this conversation, we have two researchers from LBNL (Dr Arman Shehabi, Staff Scientist in the Energy Analysis and Environmental Impacts Division of the Energy Technologies Area at LBNL and Dr Sarah Smith, Research Scientist at LBNL) who worked on the report.
Together, we’ll discuss the report, its findings, and the overall preparedness of the electricity infrastructure to meet AI demands and its broader climate impact.
