Rebecca Allen presents The Future of Humanity
Season 3 of Artwrld Sessions is presented in partnership with Rhizome, the international hub for new media art.
Each session is recorded for a live online audience and co-presented by Michael Connor, Executive Director of Rhizome, and Josh Goldblum, Artwrld Founder and CEO. This week we welcome internationally acclaimed artist pioneering digital artist Rebecca Allen.
Rebecca Allen examines how technology is reshaping what it means to be human. Since the 1970s, Allen has used computer art, motion simulation, AI, and generative algorithms to explore the boundaries between body and mind, nature and illusion, physicality and virtuality. Her work asks urgent questions: as technology redefines our sense of reality and identity, what remains distinctly human?
Drawing on decades of research and practice—from her groundbreaking early work in computer art to recent pieces engaging with biophilia and artificial life—Allen will discuss the evolution of her artistic vision and what the collision of human and machine reveals about our future.
