About Event

Join us for our first-ever Women Doing Cool $h!t panel: Guelph Edition 🍞

We're bringing Women Doing Cool $h!t to Guelph for the very first time — and we couldn't be more excited to kick things off in this community.

Women Doing Cool $h!t is Toast's signature panel series celebrating women in tech who are building, leading, and disrupting in ways that matter. Each event brings together bold voices from across the industry for an honest, energizing conversation about their paths, their work, and what it really takes to do something worth talking about.

Panelists:

1) Shyanne Favaro
Shyanne is an education and community development professional focused on equity, inclusion, and improving access for 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. Their work centers on identifying where systems create barriers and developing practical programs, partnerships, and resources that make spaces and services more accessible.

They currently serve as Rural Education Coordinator with Out on the Shelf, where they lead outreach, facilitate workshops, build community partnerships, and develop accessible information and resources that support 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals and help organizations strengthen the accessibility of their services. Shyanne’s work also includes supporting early childhood education professionals through training and resource development focused on inclusion and reflective practice.

2) Devi Thompson
Devi is a Creative Photographer located in the Tri-City area of Waterloo, ON, who grew up just a hop, skip and a jump away in Guelph, ON. She has been running her own small business since 2014, when she decided to turn her big dream into reality.

She has always loved capturing the beauty around her — whether through her passion for Photography or her newfound love for Content Creation/Videography. Devi believes she has found a way to live in the balance of being in the moment and capturing it. (A true Libra through and through!)

She is all about building your own fun during your session and finding the magic in the little things. Grateful to be on this journey with so many of her clients already, Devi is stoked to continue meeting new friends through her lens! ♡

3) Pauline Cripps
Pauline Cripps is the Community Food Lead at the Arrell Food Institute. Her role aims to draw connections and facilitate collaborations between systems level thinking and community rooted actions in addressing food system resilience, with a specific focus on the importance of food security for all.

She comes to AFI with extensive experience working in emergency food service provision and hunger relief from her time in food banking. Having had opportunities to connect with other food bankers and affiliates across the country in her previous role, she brings a wealth of practical experience in delivering food access programing, as well as a deep understanding of the food insecurity issues challenging local communities both regionally and beyond.

🍞 Help us build a more equitable tech industry

Before attending this event, we ask all guests to complete our Gender Equity Survey. The survey captures real lived experiences in tech and helps shape Toast programs, research, and advocacy. Responses are anonymous, and patterns matter more than individual stories.

Complete the survey here: Toast Gender Equity Report
If you’ve filled this out for a previous Toast event, you don’t need to do it again.

What to Expect:
Expect an interactive fireside chat with some time to network before and after — the kind of room where you'll leave with new ideas, new connections, and a serious dose of inspiration. Light refreshments and snacks will be available.
