Workshop: User Story Mapping
Think of a time when you were working on a product and the team was moving from the stage of having an idea to build (or a validated prototype) to creating the backlog.
Have you ever found at that point a mismatch in the team's understanding and expectations?
User Story Mapping is a tool that helps solve this problem. Using Agile and User Centric Design elements, this tool helps teams build shared knowledge and alignment in those key stages, so that they can progress easier.
About the workshop:
This workshop introduces the User Story Mapping technique (created by Jeff Patton), and includes time for theory and practice.
User Story Mapping is a collaborative tool that teams use to map a user's goals and journey through a product and break that into epics, stories and priorities. It helps teams create shared understanding with regards to their ideas about the product/ features to build (or validate). They align on the backlog elements and prioritise according to the desired outcomes.
This workshop is for:
Cross functional teams who want a better way to collaborate when moving in between stages of ideation and tactical backlog creation. Valuable for PMs, BAs, designers and engineers.
After this workshop you will:
Be able to support the team to create shared knowledge and alignment with regards to what to build (or validate)
Move faster from "we’ve got an idea of what to build" stage to "we have agreement on the user stories/ epics that could go in the backlog"
Have a lightweight alternative to lengthy documentation
Have prioritised work in several milestones
About the Trainer:
Mihaela Roman is a Product Coach with 10 years of product management experience, having worked (and used User Story Mapping) across multiple industries, products and countries
Bonus
A follow up 1 hour check in session, one month after the workshop, with the same group of participants to debrief, share experiences, etc
