"Break the Pattern" International Women’s Day 2026 ✨💜 Hosted by Women Techmakers in partnership with University of Ibadan Faculty of Computing
Technology has long been shaped by patterns that quietly determine who gets opportunities, who leads conversations, and who is expected to belong. Break the Pattern is about challenging those defaults, refusing to accept limitations simply because they have always existed, stepping boldly into spaces where women have been underrepresented, and actively shaping a new future for technology.
This physical International Women’s Day event brings together female students, professionals and tech enthusiasts for meaningful conversations around growth, leadership, innovation, and the future of tech. 🚀
We are excited to host Ibilola Afolabi as our Guest Speaker. With over 12 years of experience in IT leadership, business development, and client engagement, she brings a wealth of insight on building impact, translating technical solutions into business value, and driving strategic growth within the technology ecosystem. She is also a co-convener of Pacesetter TechXhibition, a major annual tech platform in Ibadan focused on showcasing emerging talent and innovation.
The event will also feature a panel conversation with exceptional women shaping technology across different sectors, including Engr. Raheemat Adabanija, Permanent Secretary Bureau of ICT & Digital Innovation, Oyo State; Stella Abu, Product & Operations Leader; and Jumai Olatoke, AI and Data Consultant, and Dr Aderonke B. Sakpere, Senior Lecturer in Data Science, Faculty of Computing, UI; sharing practical perspectives on leadership, product building, AI, and navigating today’s evolving tech ecosystem.
We’ll also be having our Mother of the Day, the first female Professor of Computer Science in Nigeria, Prof Adenike Osofisan and our Father of the Day, the Dean of the faculty, Prof A. B. Adeyemo
