Slovak PRO Presents: New York Beginnings - Vol. 3

An evening of stories, connections, and fresh starts in the Big Apple — connecting Slovaks in the U.S., opening opportunities, and bringing experience and know-how back to Slovakia

This event is organized by Slovak PRO in cooperation with the Consulate General of the Slovak Republic in New York, +421 Foundation and Slovak Global Network.

New York is a city of bold moves and new chapters. Whether you came here to launch your career, pivot professionally, pursue a dream, or simply explore what’s possible, the beginning is always the hardest — and the most defining.

NYC Beginnings brings together Slovak professionals and friends of our community for an inspiring evening of honest conversations and shared experiences about starting out in New York.

Additionally, be among the first to experience the exhibition showcasing illustrations from the bibliophile edition of Strawberry Wine on Blood Stains, a poetry collection by Slovak poet Juraj Zembera. The artwork was created by the renowned Slovak illustrator Peter Uchnár. The publication will be released in both Slovak and English, with the English translation by Eva Staroňová. Each illustration will feature a QR code, allowing visitors to listen to the corresponding poem in their respective language. The exhibition is designed as an interactive and engaging experience.

The project will be introduced by a curator from the Slovak National Gallery - Martin Vančo.

Marek Homola - Strategy and operations leader at Uber Eats, currently serving as Global Strategy Lead.

Marek Goliaš - Accredited paintings conservator-restorer specializing in the conservation and restoration of European Old Master paintings.

Moderator: Lucia Kollarova Kapogiannopoulos - Slovak PRO Board Member and NY Attorney.
