Moderator:
Dan Shulman (Shareholder at Vedder) helps clients unlock the value of their innovation by ensuring that intellectual property, the tool that makes their innovation exclusive—allows clients to profit from their best ideas by being different, and staying different, from their competitors. Dan both enforces and defends their rights through proven corporate strategies and culture-building methods to protect both known and unknown innovations within an organization.
Dan handles complex patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret litigation, and all aspects of patent and trademark prosecution and portfolio management. Clients depend on him to litigate cases through jury verdict if necessary, while also considering cost-effective alternatives in and out of the courtroom. Drawing on his in-house experience, Dan understands the challenges businesses face, and values being knowledgeable in all areas of intellectual property law versus specializing in one, offering clients quality service as outside counsel, and meeting or exceeding a client’s budget expectations.
Panelists:
David Touhey is with ARA Partners, a private equity firm focused on global decarbonization. An engineer and manufacturing project manager by training, he does the un-glamorous, essential part of climate investing: actually building the plants for portfolio companies.
Nicole Tai (Pacific Reclaimed Lumber Supply, Greenlynx) is on a mission to keep building materials out of landfills. A Cal grad (B.S. Conservation Resource Studies) with a construction background, she's built two businesses around one idea: reuse what we already have.
Nick Halla, (co-founder of Impossible Foods and current founder of GigaClimate) knows what it takes to get science out of the lab and onto a shelf. As part of the founding team at Impossible Foods, he spent eleven years scaling one of the most recognizable food-tech companies in the world. Today he runs GigaClimate, a venture builder built around the hardest part of climate tech: turning breakthroughs into real, profitable companies.
More panelists to be announced.
This event is generously sponsored by Vedder. Thank you to Daniel Shulman, Brent Yamashita, and the Vedder team for making it happen.
