The AI Generated Self (Week #5 Creative Futures Counterstructures)
Session #5 of tiat's Creative Futures Counterstructures Artist Residency program.
During this session, resident Avital Meshi will lead a performance and workshop that investigates how artificial intelligence reshapes the boundaries of human identity and self-expression.
The session will begin with a short live performance of GPT-ME, a wearable system that merges human and machine consciousness by whispering GPT-generated text directly into the artist’s ear, allowing her to speak as a hybrid human–AI being. Following the performance, participants will be invited to lend their voices to an AI model and practice speaking on its behalf. Together, we will attempt to hold legible conversations while the AI system selects and alters the words we speak. We will step into the porous space of identity and selfhood, where human and machine voices merge, blur, and transform one another.
Important:
To actively participate, please bring your phone and install an AI app with voice capabilities such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini Live. If you are using the free versions of these apps, it’s best to have more than one installed to avoid usage limits. Also, bring earbuds or headphones that can connect to your phone (earbuds preferred).
No prior technical experience is required. Come ready to experiment, play, and laugh out loud.
