Blender Intensive — 8-Week Foundations to World Building
This is an 8-week, hands-on Blender Intensive designed to take you from first launch to confidently building worlds, systems, and custom tools in Blender.
Blender is more than a modeling application — it’s a platform used across animation, XR, live visuals, generative design, and digital fabrication. This course focuses on understanding Blender deeply enough to create, experiment, and extend it.
About the Instructor
I’ve been using Blender for 6+ years and have taught 30+ industry students who’ve successfully applied Blender across:
Motion graphics & animation
XR and immersive environments
VJing, live animation, and generative design
Jewelry design, landscaping, and spatial visualization
Physical workflows such as laser cutting and 3D printing
I work in the VR industry, where Blender is used for world building, rapid iteration, and custom pipelines. The structure of this course reflects real production and experimental workflows.
Course Structure
Weeks 1–3: Foundations
Blender setup and workflow fundamentals
Viewport navigation and spatial awareness
Object Mode vs Edit Mode
Modeling fundamentals and clean topology
Modifiers and non-destructive workflows
Materials, textures, lighting, and cameras
Producing and exporting clean renders
Weeks 4–6: Systems & World Building
Scene organization at scale
Environment and world-building techniques
Procedural and generative workflows
Animation systems and motion logic
Preparing assets for XR, live visuals, and real-time pipelines
Weeks 7–8: Advanced & Tool Building
World-building capstone projects
AI-assisted workflows for modeling and iteration
AI coding inside Blender
Using MCPs (Model Context Protocols) to connect Blender to external tools
Writing Blender Python scripts
Building custom add-ons and plugins
Developing reusable tools for personal workflows
Assignments & Projects
Each week includes guided assignments designed to reinforce concepts and build momentum.
Throughout the course, students will complete:
Short technical exercises
Creative mini-projects
One or more portfolio-ready projects, including:
A structured world or environment
Renders or animations suitable for presentation
Optional tooling, scripts, or add-ons for advanced students
By the end of the program, you’ll have concrete work you can show, not just knowledge.
Who This Is For
Complete beginners looking for a strong foundation
Artists, designers, technologists, and creators
XR, generative design, and world-building enthusiasts
Anyone interested in extending Blender with code and AI
No prior Blender or coding experience required. Advanced topics are introduced progressively and conceptually.
Format
8-week program
Weekly, in-person sessions
2 hours per class
Hands-on instruction + experimentation
Assignments, projects, and feedback
By the end of the 8 weeks, you’ll understand Blender as:
A 3D creation tool
A world-building system
A platform you can extend, automate, and customize
— and you’ll have a portfolio to prove it.
This event is hosted at the Frontier Tower:
We are transforming a 16-fmeetloor tower in San Francisco into a self-governed vertical village—a hub for frontier technologies and creative arts. Tier-one labs presenting AI, Ethereum, biotech, neuroscience, longevity, robotics, human flourishing, and arts & music. These floors will house innovators and creators pushing the boundaries of human potential in a post-AI-singularity world.
