Books & Booze: Pegasus [ENG]
A month of questioning who holds power, how information is controlled, and what privacy truly means in the digital age.
Much of modern life now unfolds through technology. Our phones hold our conversations, locations, relationships, ideas, and routines. Yet most of us rarely stop to consider how vulnerable that information can become when surveillance tools fall into the wrong hands.
For this edition of Books & Booze, we will explore Pegasus by Laurent Richard and Sandrine Rigaud, an investigative account uncovering the global spyware scandal that exposed how journalists, activists, political leaders, and citizens were secretly monitored through their own devices.
Join us for an intimate evening of conversation, reflection, and connection as we unpack the growing intersection between technology, power, ethics, and personal freedom. Together, we’ll explore questions around digital privacy, cybersecurity, misinformation, and what it means to live in an increasingly monitored world. As always, the discussion is designed to be accessible and engaging whether you have read the entire book or are simply curious about the themes.
The evening will feature themed cocktails inspired by the book’s central ideas, creating a relaxed yet intellectually stimulating atmosphere. Books & Booze gatherings are a signature Troisième Cercle ritual, offering space for meaningful dialogue while strengthening the relationships that define our community.
Expect thoughtful exchanges, new perspectives, and the kind of conversations that tend to linger long after the evening ends.
