A free open source browser based DAW
Presenter: André Michelle is the Cologne based founder of openDAW with a passion at the intersection between sound and code.
What to Expect: openDAW is a free, open-source digital audio workstation running entirely in the browser, with nothing to install. It was built to make music production accessible to everyone, making it a natural fit for classrooms, workshops and self-learners. In this session we’ll learn what the studio can do in practice and how students and teachers can use it to learn music production and explore the connection between sound and code.
The session is structured in four parts:
1. Introduction: a short look at why openDAW exists and why an open, browser-based studio matters for education.
2. Live tour of the studio: building a track from scratch to show sequencing, instruments, effects and mixing in action.
3. openDAW for students: ideas for how students can use it in class and at home, from first beats to sound design, and what they can learn along the way.
4. Under the hood: a brief peek at how the engine works and at the SDK for those who want to build their own tools.
