From Silos to Systems: Rethinking Regeneration and Social Impact
Unlocking Systems Thinking for Regeneration and Social Impact
A 3-hour experiential primer to help you see the bigger picture, feel the system, and act with deeper purpose.
Why it matters
In a world of interconnected crises, quick fixes often miss the mark. Whether you're working on environmental regeneration or social equity, systems thinking helps you move beyond silos and surface-level symptoms to address root causes and patterns of change. This session will help you make sense of complexity, collaborate more effectively, and unlock new possibilities for transformation.
What to expect
In this immersive primer, you’ll be guided through proven tools like the Iceberg Model and 3D Mapping (physical modelling of systems), grounded in real-life reflections from fellow participants. Come ready to engage with your head, heart, and hands.
Together, we will:
Practice systems thinking: see beyond events to the deeper patterns and structures driving them
Build systems awareness: see how different stakeholders experience the same system
Strengthen systems sensing: uncover relationships and hidden dynamics
What You'll Walk Away With
A personal insight into a complex challenge you care about—seen through a systems lens
Two foundational tools you can start applying right away (Iceberg Model and 3D Mapping)
A felt sense of how to think systemically, sense collectively, and act with intention
A peer community of fellow changemakers working across sectors
An invitation to deepen your practice through our Systems Strategy Lab, with an exclusive 20% discount for Primer alumni
Your Facilitator
This session is led by Boon Pei Ya, founder of The Shoal Co., a partner for changemakers navigating complexity — blending systems thinking, team development, and facilitation to help teams work better together and make progress where it matters most. Pei Ya brings more than 16 years of experience across climate, conservation, and social justice, including regional leadership in conservation finance and corporate sustainability. Her work draws on systems thinking, systems mapping and social arts to map complexity, surface dynamics, and co-create adaptive strategies, and is grounded in the belief that real transformation begins with how we see, sense, and relate.
