BRJC Community Skill Share and Repair Fair
The Bay Ridge Justice Collective is a mutual aid group serving Bay Ridge. We believe in creating a community that shows up for one another, creates safety, shares skills, knowledge, and resources, and restores our hope and faith in one another. It is our hope that the Community Skill Share and Repair Fair can function as a space where community members can join together to teach and learn from each.
This event will function somewhat like a science fair—attendees can move around the space, engaging in different skills and practices being taught by community members. This event is further inspired by the Repair Fair model, in which community members join together to repair objects, such as items of clothes or stuffed animals, to expand their life. We encourage you to bring your objects in need of repair, and any knitting, crochet, sewing, mending, bike repair, lino-printing, and self care projects and questions.
A Woman's Self Defense demonstration will take place every half hour—all other events are drop in.
This event is free to the public and family friendly. RSVP's are encouraged but not required. We are pursuing commitment of Arabic and Spanish interpreters.

BRJC Intercambio de Habilidades Comunitario

El Colectivo de Justicia de Bay Ridge (BRJC) es un grupo de apoyo mutuo activo de Bay Ridge. Nosotres queremos crear una comunidad que se apoya mutuamente, genera seguridad, comparte habilidades, conocimientos y recursos, y restaura esperanza y fe en nosotres mismes. Es nuestra esperanza que nuestro intercambio de habilidades sea un espacio donde miembros de la comunidad puedan colaborar y aprender unos de otres.
Este evento funcionará como una feria de ciencia–les asistentes podrán explorar cada puesto, e interactuar y aprender más sobre las diferentes habilidades que serán demostradas por miembros de la comunidad. Este evento está inspirado por el modelo de Repair Fair, en la cual, les participantes se unen a reparar objetos, como ropa o peluches, para poder enriquecer sus vidas y expandir sus habilidades. Animamos a les participantes a traer objetos que necesiten reparaciones, como proyectos de arte textil, ropa, bicicletas, textiles que necesiten serigrafía y preguntas sobre proyectos de auto cuidado.También queremos que les participantes vengan con sus preguntas y curiosidad.
Se llevará a cabo una demostración de autodefensa para mujeres cada media hora – todos los otros eventos serán por orden de llegada.
Este evento es gratis, abierto al público, y apropiado para toda la famila. Recomendamos que les participantes llenen un RSVP, pero no es necesario.

مجموعة العدالة في باي ريدج هي مجموعة مساعدة متبادلة تخدم منطقة باي ريدج. نؤمن ببناء مجتمعٍ يقف فيه الأفراد إلى جانب بعضهم البعض، ويوفرون الأمان، ويتبادلون المهارات والمعارف والموارد، مما يعيد إلينا الأمل والثقة ببعضنا البعض. نأمل أن تشكّل فعالية "تبادل المهارات والإصلاح المجتمعي" مساحةً يلتقي فيها أفراد المجتمع لتعليم بعضهم البعض وتبادل المعارف والمهارات.
ستكون هذه الفعالية أشبه بمعرض علمي؛ إذ يمكن للحضور التنقل في أرجاء المكان، والمشاركة في ممارسة مهارات وأنشطة متنوعة يقدّمها أفراد من المجتمع. تستمد هذه الفعالية إلهامها أيضاً من نموذج "معارض الإصلاح"، حيث يجتمع أفراد المجتمع معاً لإصلاح الأشياء -كقطع الملابس أو الدمى المحشوة- بهدف إطالة عمرها الافتراضي. ندعوكم لإحضار أغراضكم التي تحتاج إلى إصلاح، بالإضافة إلى أي مشاريع أو استفسارات تتعلق بالحياكة، أو الكروشيه، أو الخياطة، أو الترقيع، أو إصلاح الدراجات، أو الطباعة الرسم بالأصباغ (فن اللينوليوم)، مشاريع العناية بالذات وأسئلة.
ستُقام ورشة عمل للشعر من الساعة 1 إلى الساعة 2 ظهرًا.
هذه الفعالية مجانية ومتاحة للجمهور، وهي مناسبة للعائلات. يُفضَّل تأكيد الحضور، لكنه ليس إلزامياً. نحن نسعى لتأمين مترجمين للغتين العربية والإسبانية.
