'Stray Embers' Film Screening and Panel
Join us for a screening of Stray Embers, an intimate, vérité portrait of resilience, community, and climate crisis in rural Northern California.
In November 2018, the Camp Fire became the deadliest wildfire in California history. Brad Weldon, a fifth-generation resident of Paradise, saved his home with little more than luck, some garden hoses, and sheer determination. Then he opened his doors to more than 20 displaced neighbors, friends, and their many dogs, creating a sprawling, improvised household.
Filmed over five tumultuous years, the film follows this multi-generational community as it navigates grief, recovery, and a larger question: what does it mean to rebuild not just a home, but a way of living together?
