About Event

AI is changing how we design, prototype, research, and build. But a lot of the best workflows are still being figured out by people experimenting on their own.

So let’s get a few of those people in the same room.

This is a small, hands-on coworking session for designers and adjacent product folks who are actively experimenting with AI. Bring a project, prototype, workflow, automation, or problem you’re working through and spend the afternoon building alongside other curious people.

The goal is simple: learn from each other, make real progress, and leave with a few new ideas you can actually use.

You might be:

  • Vibe coding an app or prototype

  • Using AI to solve a real product problem

  • Experimenting with MCPs, agents, or automations

  • Testing new AI design and research tools

  • Figuring out how AI fits into your everyday workflow

Most of the afternoon will be open coworking. Work independently, pair up when it makes sense, ask someone what they’re building, or share something cool you discovered.

Nobody has to present. We’ll leave room for optional demos and a quick closing round for anyone who wants to share what they learned or made progress on.

The setup

We’ll also have a simple system for meeting people without interrupting their flow:

🟡 Yellow: Come say hi, I’m open to chatting or collaborating
🩷 Pink: Deep work mode, catch me later

When

November 2, 1 to 5 PM

Drop in and out as needed, but please plan to stay for at least an hour.

2 to 4 PM will be our main overlap window and the best time to meet everyone.

Where

A private coworking space a few minutes from New Westminster Station.

The exact location will be shared with confirmed attendees.

Who’s coming

We’re keeping this one intentionally small at 10 to 12 people, primarily mid to senior product designers, with a few researchers, design engineers, PMs, and other adjacent folks mixed in.

It’s free, but space is limited, so registration will be lightly curated based on the mix of projects, perspectives, and experiments people can bring to the room.

Hosted by Jarell Alvarez

Jarell is a Senior Product Designer, UX instructor at BCIT, and founder of Vancouver Design Community. He’s spent the last nine years designing complex digital products and lately has been spending far too much time experimenting with AI, prototypes, workflows, and figuring out where all of this actually fits into product design. Bring your laptop. Bring something you’re curious about. Show up as you are.

Let’s build, compare notes, and figure some of this out together.
