Rooted in Safety: An Urban Farm Safety & Risk Preparedness Workshop
Every urban farm or garden should have a clear action plan for on-site safety. Together, CRECE Urban Farms and the Los Angeles Food Policy Council (LAFPC) are hosting this workshop to equip you with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to build safer farm spaces.
So, join us for a session with the UC Davis Western Center for Agricultural Health and Safety for an Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) training at the urban agricultural workplace. This training will feature elements of a successful IIPP and exercises to support real-world preparedness for on-farm risks. We will also have a presentation from Eric Tomassini of Avenue 33 Farm on the practical applications of IIPP in an urban Farm setting, a farm tour, and rapid response resources on how to best protect and inform your community.
All employers in California are required to establish an IIPP plan in writing, and basic risk preparedness can reduce the risk of injury for staff, volunteers, and visitors. Together, we’ll build a culture of safety at each farm and across the region!
What the Training Will Cover:
Foundations IIPP: Responsibility, Compliance, Communication, Hazard Assessment, Accident/Exposure Investigation, Hazard Correction, Training and Instruction, Employee access to the IIP Program, and Recordkeeping
How to Plan for Urban Farm Safety: Heat illness prevention, how to apply IIPP to urban farms
Together, we’ll build a culture of safety at each farm and across the region!
