About Event

Join climate-focused Naturalist and Bird Educator Eileen F. Lambert and Hanae Bettencourt, Community Engagement Manager from Birds Connect Seattle, for an interactive presentation exploring how everyday birding can drive meaningful climate action. Learn how apps like Merlin and eBird (Cornell Lab of Ornithology) are empowering community scientists to contribute valuable data that helps researchers and climate scientists build more accurate models for predicting climate change.

Participants will also discover how Birds Connect Seattle fosters community science through programs such as:

  • Christmas Bird Count (CBC)

  • Climate Watch

  • Neighborhood Bird Project (NBP)

  • Project Phoenix

  • Birds and Climate Report

These types of programs provide opportunities for anyone to make a measurable impact on understanding and taking action to address climate change.

Whether you’re a seasoned birder, just starting in your backyard, or curious about the connections between birds and climate change, this presentation will show how your observations can build greater climate awareness, gain skills as community scientists and share valuable data insights with the climate scientist community -one bird a time.
