Introduction from Japan Airlines:
As Japan's flag carrier, JAL is committed to revitalizing local regions across Japan. The JAL Group has established its ESG strategy as a top priority, integrating environmental, social, and governance responsibilities to create long-term social and economic value. Within the social pillar, our focus is on fostering 'relationships and societal connections via air transportation.'Every year, a significant number of tourists travel from Europe to major tourist destinations such as Shibuya (Tokyo), Osaka Castle(Osaka), and Kiyomizu-dera Temple (Kyoto). On the other hand, numerous other local areas in Japan are left unnoticed, and many of such areas need revitalization due to sustainability challenges. Setting tourism as a key to the revitalization of those areas, our objective is to encourage tourists to explore regions beyond these main destinations, thereby expanding opportunities for new discoveries and meaningful engagement with local Japanese communities.
We offer the "JAL Japan Explorer Pass (JEP)," which provides international visitors to Japan with cost-effective access to domestic flights within the country. Currently, the utilization rate of the JEP is low. We aspire to fulfill our core purpose—contributing to the revitalization of local areas in Japan using our strengths as the flag carrier—by successfully promoting the increased use of this pass.
Consequently, we seek your innovative proposals on the following core question: "How can we make more international tourists from Europe visit local areas in Japan by using JAL Japan Explorer Pass (JEP)?"
