Learn & Burn Day at Pepperwood Preserve
Join the Pepperwood Preserve's Fire & Stewardship Manager and California Certified Burn Boss, Devyn Friedfel, for a special Learn & Burn (LAB) Day.
LAB Days are hands-on training events focused on prescribed fire and fire-resilient land management. Participants gain practical experience through activities such as pile burning, broadcast burning, fire ecology walks, and land stewardship demonstrations. Each session is designed around current weather and environmental conditions, and provides useful, field-based learning centered on fire ecology, risk reduction, and community safety. LAB days are offered by our nonprofit, Pepperwood Foundation, as a community service meant to give a chance for community members, leaders and changemakers to better understand how strategic land management can reduce wildfire threats and support healthy ecosystems.
Attire & What to Bring: Please pack lunch and a water bottle (at least 2 liters).
Hiking or wook boots boots, natural material (ex. cotton) long sleeve shirt and pants, hat, leather gloves, and eye protection (ex. sunglasses) are strongly encouraged. Pepperwood Preserve can provide gloves and eye protection for participants who don't have their own.
