XR Legacy: QUANDARY - Miao Dance 淼舞 XR Performance

​Miao Dance 淼舞 (@miaodance.sg) is proud to have been presenting QUANDARY, an hour long improvisation jam between one movement artist and one musician/sound artist for the past 5 years.

​Exploring the intersectionalities and possibilities of the sonic and physical realms, the performance project aims to promulgate the concepts of improvisation, exploration, experimentation and collision.

​Artists are challenged to meet on the afternoon of performance day to discuss their strategies (if any) for the evening's improvisation performance. The spontaneity of each unique sharing thus underscores its own ephemerality, for makers and viewers.

​In this new edition under the auspice of Arts x Tech Lab, we present QUANDARY++, in which the addition of live audio and movement capture processes, coupled with multiple projections in multiple planes across the space, lend to the potentiality of expanding a 2-player game into a "4-player" iteration. Born out of a curiosity towards synesthesia, Chen Jiexiao aims to experiment with tech language that was formerly alien to him to not only augment the art genre mixing, but also also render the process even more capricious.
