A high-signal reading group for AI researchers & builders pushing the frontiers of robotic world models, WAMs, and embodied intelligence. In our previous sessions, we brought together researchers and engineers from Boston Dynamics, Google DeepMind, NVIDIA, Stanford, UC Berkeley, Dyna, Physical Intelligence, Tesla, Generalist, Rhoda AI, and leading Bay Area robotics startups.

Keynote by Jerry Huang: Owning the Door, Building the Engine: A Field Guide to the Physical AI Hardware & Data Supply Chain

The embodied AI race is often framed as a contest of models and algorithms — but whoever controls the hardware door and the data pipeline controls the economics. This talk offers a builder's-eye, vendor-neutral map of the physical AI hardware stack as it actually exists in mid-2026: who makes what, where the bottlenecks are, and why the highest-value position isn't the robot or the model, but the evaluation and data loop in between.

Drawing on hands-on experience distributing, renting, and integrating hardware across the major humanoid, manipulator, and sensor manufacturers, I'll cover three layers:

(1) The Hardware Landscape. A practical overview of today's manipulator arms, humanoids, mobile bases, and the tactile/vision sensor ecosystem — from teleoperation rigs to dexterous gloves. What's real, what's hype, what's actually shippable, and how compliance (export control, NDAA §889, Buy American) quietly reshapes who can buy what.

(2) The Data Production Problem. Why high-quality embodied data — teleoperation, egocentric video, motion capture — is the true scarce resource, and how hardware becomes the customer-acquisition door into a data business. The "Timing Tax": observation-action sync jitter as an underappreciated source of noise in imitation learning.

(3) The Flywheel & the Chokepoint. How hardware → data → evaluation/RL loop compounds, and why owning the eval loop is the most defensible position in the embodied AI stack. A hot take or two on where this market consolidates. I'll close with a brief introduction to Robotics Center — what we're building at the intersection of hardware distribution and embodied data production — and open the floor for debate.

Keynote Speaker: Jerry Huang is Founder & CEO of Robotics Center, a vertically integrated physical AI data production and robotics hardware platform. His work spans hardware distribution across the major robotics manufacturers, embodied data production (teleoperation, egocentric, motion capture), and own-brand hardware including the OpenArm dual-arm system and a tactile glove. Robotics Center is a Y Combinator (S25) company based in San Francisco.


Lightning Talk

FAEA: Frontier Agent as Embodied Agent, accepted IROS 2026 proceedings paper that repurposes an LLM code-agent framework originally designed for software engineering as a robotic control system. Instead of training a new manipulation policy, FAEA uses the agentic loop of code agents—state inspection, reasoning, execution, and self-correction—to solve embodied manipulation tasks without demonstrations or fine-tuning. Evaluated across LIBERO, ManiSkill3, and MetaWorld, FAEA shows that frontier code-agent infrastructure can serve as a practical task-level controller for simulated robotics and a tool for generating successful trajectories for future embodied learning.
