Earlier this year, “Chinamaxxing” emerged online as a playful fascination with contemporary China. Chinese technology, infrastructure, manufacturing, food, fashion, media, and everyday life became sources of curiosity and admiration. To Chinamaxx was, loosely, to embrace aspects of Chinese culture, or an imagined version of them.

 explores how contemporary China is experienced, interpreted, and reimagined across borders through the internet. We are looking for works that consider what Chinamaxxing means now, what it reveals about shifting cultural influence, and what gets created, complicated, or distorted as images of China travel around the world.
