NGS IEG: HiFi long-read sequencing overview and applications in drug discovery and development
Greetings!
This September we will be hosting Nadia Sellami, PhD, from PacBio to share new updates on PacBio’s HiFi sequencing technology that can deliver multi-kilobase reads with >99.9% accuracy 🧬🔥. Compared to other sequencing technologies, HiFi’s unique dual advantage of length and accuracy enables a broad set of applications, including but not limited to identifying on-/off-target effects for CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing outcomes 🔍.
Title: HiFi long-read sequencing overview and applications in drug discovery and development
Abstract: Sequencing plays an increasingly important role in drug discovery & development. Whether it is identifying drug targets, biomarkers, engineering antibody, mRNA or oligonucleotide therapeutics, or optimizing viral vectors for cell and gene therapies, accurate and complete sequencing is essential.
In this webinar, we’ll introduce HiFi sequencing by PacBio that can deliver multi-kilobase reads with >99.9% accuracy. Compared to other sequencing technologies, HiFi’s unique dual advantage of length and accuracy enables a broad set of applications: detecting novel transcript isoforms that can be used to design anti-sense oligonucleotides (ASOs), measuring full vs partial genome vectors and impurities in AAV vectors, identifying on-/off-target effects for CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing outcomes, developing antibodies through directed evolution, verifying plasmid and cell lines used in productions, and many others.
Presenter’s bio: Dr. Sellami is the lead for the Biopharma segment at PacBio and passionate about long-read sequencing applications to enhance the drug discovery and development process. She has obtained her PhD from UCLA in Biological Chemistry, where she also completed postdoctoral training in Science Education. Dr. Sellami has a diverse set of professional experiences ranging from working as a professor of Medical Education, as a management consultant, at a GMP facility as well as for biotech companies such as PacBio.

The NextGen Sequencing Intellectual Exchange Group (NGS IEG) provides a forum to share methods and technologies driving biotechnology research in North Carolina from both academic and private research groups. NGS IEG provides an excellent networking opportunity for biotech leaders, academics, and students interested in networking with local RTP biotech. We gather industry leaders from the RTP area to share, discuss and review their new technologies, research, and big-data platforms in a casual environment with lunch provided.
