Claude 5.5 Build Day in Mombasa
Anthropic shipped the Claude 5.5 family in three steps: Opus 5.5 on 22 September, Sonnet 5.5 on 28 September, Haiku 5.5 on 7 October. On Saturday 31 October, Mombasa builds on all three for a full day.
This is for anyone who builds, from working developers to first-time learners. Come solo and we match you into a team of up to four.
You pick one of three tracks, one per model. Deep Work is Opus 5.5: long tasks and code that runs for hours. Everyday is Sonnet 5.5: the tool a Mombasa business, school or clinic would use daily. Fast and Cheap is Haiku 5.5: products where speed and cost decide, like WhatsApp bots or USSD on low bandwidth.
Doors open at 9 AM at Westerwelle Startup Haus Mombasa, Mwembe Tayari Road. Briefs first, then you build. Demos run in the late afternoon and are judged live on Anthropic's four Build Day criteria: New Capability, It Works, Keep or Share, Clarity of Demo. We finish at 6 PM.
You leave with a working build, scored by judges in the room. Bring a laptop and a charger. Free entry, approval required.
