GBBC's 3rd Annual European Parliament Event
Join GBBC for its 3rd Annual European Parliament Event, taking place in Brussels on 10 November. The event will be focused on Building Europe's Next Economy: Technology, Capital and Infrastructure at Scale, hosted under the patronage of Borys Budka, MEP, Chair of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE).
This GBBC-hosted dialogue asks: What does Europe need to build, finance and coordinate over the next decade to turn its research and engineering strengths into companies, infrastructure and industries that can compete globally?
Europe has deep scientific and engineering strengths, but the route from research to commercial scale remains difficult. Advanced computing depends on chips, cloud capacity, networks and electricity; industrial projects need long-term capital and customers. New forms of issuance and settlement will only be useful if they work with existing markets, central bank money and supervision. These issues are connected but usually discussed separately.
The event would bring these issues into one conversation, organised around four practical tasks:
turn European research into products, companies and industrial capacity;
plan computing, connectivity and energy infrastructure together;
improve access to long-term capital for growing companies and strategic projects; and
give financial institutions practical ways to assess and manage the risks of new market infrastructure
