This month's guest speaker is Green Light New Orleans. Green Light New Orleans empowers New Orleanians to take climate action at their homes by providing the tools and education needed to build a more sustainable, equitable community. Green Light has distributed more than 600,000 energy-efficient light bulbs since 2007, but is now known for its rain barrel program, in which any resident within the levee system can obtain an upcycled, hand-painted rain barrel (installed!) for a minimum cost share of $10. There are presently more than 3400 rain barrels out in the wild, lending to community-based green infrastructure with collective impact.
