FREE FOOD, FILM PHOTOGRAPHY, CLAUDE MERCH, AND MORE!

THIS APPLICATION FORM WILL CLOSE ON SUNDAY, MAY 3RD.

If you are accepted to participate, we will let you know via email by Wednesday May 6th. It is recommended that you find a teammate before applying to the hackathon. If you do not have a teammate and are accepted, we will assign you one before the event. It is possible that you are accepted and your teammate is not, but it is unlikely. Each person on a team must register separately. Only UCSD undergraduate students can participate in this hackathon. There will be around 25 teams.

ALL MAJORS ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY!

During this hackathon, you will work in teams of 2 to create a few deliverables:

  1. A project in accordance with a theme, which will be announced at the event

  2. A 1-2 page writeup regarding ethical concerns of the project and/or specific system design elements that address such concerns

  3. A 3-5 minute video walkthrough of the project

Prizes: Artemis Rocket Lego Set + $300 API Credits + Claude tote bag for each person in the top 2 winning teams

A large part of the evaluation of projects will be on how intentional students are with the integration of their project into the scope of their domain, evaluated via the writeup.

To help you, there will be a workshop in collaboration with AI Alignment Club that will outline specific topics that will be asked in the writeup, and how to answer them accordingly, which will be weighted heavily in the grading process. Though you will not know the theme of the hackathon until the actual event, the workshop will help guide you through and generate ideas for how to approach it.

There will be 2 sessions for the workshop:

  1. May 8th at 6 PM (1 day before the hackathon) in The Lodge @ Sixth

  2. Day of the hackathon

It is highly recommended that those who are participating in the hackathon attend a workshop. Even if you are not participating in the hackathon and would like to learn more about AI ethics, feel free to attend the workshop hosted on May 8th. All attendees on May 8th will receive Claude swag and $20 of API credits.

Good Luck!
