About Event

Join the City of Toronto's Urban Forestry staff to explore Toronto’s newest park! Biidaasige, pronounced “bee-daw-si-geh” and meaning “sunlight shining toward us” in Anishinaabemowin, is a new island in the Port Lands. At over 40 hectares, Biidaasige Park is one of the largest and most complex public parks in Toronto. Staff will introduce you to the plants and trees that make up the park’s naturalized landscape and explore how they connect to Toronto and the broader watershed. We’ll walk approximately 3 km, mostly along paved paths with some stretches on compacted gravel. The tour begins and ends at the same location.

This guided tour will be led by Mark Sherman, Natural Environment Specialist with the Environment, Climate, and Forestry Division at the City of Toronto.
