Welcome to The Healthy Art School Mentorship Programme! (February Start)

We’re excited to support you in developing your creative practice over six months of focused, one-to-one mentorship. This programme gives you time and space to explore your work, experiment with materials, and reflect on your ideas — all with the guidance of Martha Lamont and guest tutor Claudia Kennaugh.

About Your Mentors

  • Martha Lamont focuses on nurturing your practice, both technically and conceptually. She’ll guide you through materials, processes, and approaches, helping you strengthen your ideas and expand your artistic voice.

  • Claudia Kennaugh supports the professional and practical side of being an artist, offering guidance on everything from artistic direction, writing and talking about your work, framing and presentation, pricing, organisation, online presence, commissions, portfolio building, to gallery and exhibition support.

What Does the Mentorship Programme Involve?

Over six months, you will receive six one-to-one virtual tutorials with a dedicated mentor. Each session is designed to give you space to discuss your current inspirations, context, themes, questions, creative blocks, and next steps. Before each session, you’ll receive friendly question prompts to help you reflect and prepare.

To support your ongoing development, one week before each session you will receive a personalised email containing the question prompts we’ll be exploring next time, along with any reflections, insights, or references Martha has gathered over the previous three weeks. This email will serve as both a check-in and a source of motivation, helping you stay connected with your practice and inspired between sessions.

Using these guided prompts and reflective exercises provided by The Healthy Art School, the sessions help you explore your work more deeply, identify challenges, and consider new directions.

To make sure our discussions and ideas are captured, there will be a shared document that everyone can access and contribute to. This will serve as a living record of what we cover in each session—helping us stay organised, share insights, and keep track of key points as the course progresses.

Structure of the Course:

Session 1 (60 mins): Reconnecting with your practice – Understanding what you make and why it matters to you. (Tutor: Martha Lamont)
Session 2 (90 mins): Materials and play- We’ll explore how 2-4 relevant contemporary artists use materials and colour. Martha will share practical demonstrations on material and a colour-mixing masterclass to build your confidence in both. (Tutor: Martha Lamont)
Session 3 (60 mins): Pushing boundaries – Finding ways to go deeper and challenge yourself. (Tutor: Martha Lamont)
Session 4 (60 mins): Check-in – Reflecting on what’s working, what isn’t, and what we can learn from it. (Tutor: Martha Lamont)
Session 5 (90 mins): Professional development with Claudia Kennaugh – A reflective conversation on your artistic journey, helping you define your goals and next steps.
Session 6 (60 mins): Bringing it together – Consolidating your progress and creating a clear path forward. (Tutor: Martha Lamont)

The six-month structure allows for a focused, in-depth exploration of your making and thinking, giving you time to develop your ideas and experiment with your practice. It also provides the opportunity to build a meaningful relationship with your tutors, who will support you in exploring your approach and developing how your thinking informs your work.

New for the New Year – Artist Meet-Ups

We’re delighted to announce that from the new year, The Healthy Art School will be hosting bi-monthly artist meet-ups in London on the last Friday evening of each month.
The first session will focus on defining your values as an artist, offering a welcoming space to reflect, share, and connect with other creatives.

These will be ticketed events at £10, but as a valued participant of the Mentorship Programme, you’ll receive free access to all meet-ups. Full details and booking information will be confirmed in the coming months, and you’ll be the first to know.

Booking and Availability:

Martha’s sessions can be booked during the second week of each month, you will arrange with Martha through email. Your first session will be between 9-13th of February.

You will receive Claudia’s calendar one month before your session with her, allowing you to select a time that works best for you. Claudia's availability (your 5th session) will be on the 2 / 3 / 4 June.
